StarHub Mobile customers can now tap onto 5G SA network as StarHub switched on 5G SA coverage across the island from today for Mobile+ and Biz+ subscribers with StarHub’s 5G SIM cards and compatible devices.

StarHub 5G SA operates on an independent network infrastructure designed and deployed solely to enable 5G shared with M1. As it is a shared 5G network with M1, it should also have 50% islandwide coverage as M1. As part of the market trial, StarHub 5G SA signals will beam across select high-traffic locations, including Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Clementi, Sengkang, Pasir Ris, Tampines, Bedok, Woodlands, Paya Lebar, Punggol, Pioneer, Orchard, as well as the Central Business District and Marina Bay Financial Centre. In addition, StarHub is continuing the expansion of its existing 5G network into more indoor areas, covering popular shopping malls including Tampines Mall, Plaza Singapura, Jurong Point, VivoCity, ION Orchard, JEM, Causeway Point, and NEX. StarHub will continue intensifying rollout in step with customers’ data traffic demands, guided by network usage insights.

Currently, users with Galaxy S21 5G, Galaxy S21+ 5G, Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G will be able to tap onto the new 5G Standalone network. As the NSA network is still running in parallel, users with newer SIM card on the Galaxy phones will be able to tap into both networks – 5G SA and 5G NSA.

In preparation for the restart of international travel, StarHub has soared ahead with the largest 5G roaming footprint, offering customers 5G data access on up to 19 overseas mobile networks in 13 destinations. With StarHub DataTravel, customers can surf, snap and share within a single destination or across multiple borders for a flat fee from as low as $5. Completely hassle-free, customers’ phones will connect to the right mobile networks automatically without the need to manually search for or lock their phones to a specific preferred network

*One of our readers has tested with it’s Galaxy S21 5G, with new SIM and firmware updated. Unfortunately, it still connects as 5G NSA at some of the locations listed above.
