Windows 8 crosses 60 million mark, sees strong consumer momentum in Singapore

Consumers continue to ride on Windows 8 Upgrade Offers which end on 31st January 2013

At the 11th Annual J.P Morgan Tech Forum at CES 2013 yesterday, Microsoft announced that 60 million Windows 8 licenses have been sold to-date globally.

Since launch, Microsoft has seen strong consumer interest in Windows 8 in Singapore, which has outsold Windows 7 by at least 4 times for the same period post launch.

With more than 50 new Windows 8 devices, from hybrid PCs, notebooks, AIOs to tablets retailing in over 120 stores, local consumers are spoilt for choices; and there has been a strong momentum of customers purchasing new devices since the launch. Globally, there are now more than 1,700 certified systems for Windows 8 and Windows RT.

Apps are a new way for consumers to experience Windows 8. Globally, the number of apps has quadrupled and the Store has passed the 100 million app download mark – just two months after general availability. For the Singapore market, the Store has seen hundreds of great local apps, including DBS Lifestyle (for DBS Indulge and Shopper), ESPN StarSports, iProperty Singapore, WeGo.com, and much more.
