Conclusion

The LG Optimus 2x is a pretty cool phone to own. The phone is very responsive with tactile feel. In addition, you would also run games optimised for Tegra 2 from Tegra zone. With Dual Core and an optimised firmware, we would expect further improvements to it’s responsiveness.

Currently, it is the fastest Dual Core smartphone in the market until more competitors retail their Dual Core 1.2GHz smartphones. Using Quadrant, the Optimus 2x scores 2430 which is way ahead of the single core phones.

The 8 mega pixel camera is a bit of a disappointment though as the pictures taken are a bit exposed. There is also no fast button for camera. Although there were reported issues of auto reboot on V10a, V10b firmware. In our case, we flashed it with a V10D firmware and so far haven’t encounter any random reboots.

In addition to this feature, we particularly like the HDMI output port. It mirrors what ever you do on the phone. It makes an excellent tool for presentation or showing your favourite Mp4 on a large screen LCD TV (with surround sound). For these features, the price of the LG Optimus 2X is on the high side at SGD 888 without contract.

With a 1500mAh battery pack, the phone can only last just one working day with surfing, google mail enabled. We anticipate the new 2.3 firmware to unleash the power of Dual Core on the LG Optimus 2X. Hopefully, it can also conserve more battery.

For a score of 8.25 out of 10, we give LG Optimus 2X our Silver Award.
