Introduction
If you are an avid fan of Google home devices, you are probably familiar with the Google Home series.
Google Nest inherits the best from the Google Home. With Google Assistant, it can be the command centre to your connected devices while act as a powerful audio device that will fill your living room with music.

The new Google Nest Audio speaker sounds like a booming speaker. It is 75% louder and has 50% stronger bass than the original Google Home (which we already thought had great bass.)
This is made possible with it’s 19-millimeter tweeter and 75-millimeter mid-woofer. The Google Nest Audio has a dimension of 6.89 x 4.89 x 3.07 inches and weighs 2.65 pounds.
At a price of S$139, it seems to be pricey as you will need to get a pair for Stereo pairing.
So, how does it sound as compared to the Google Home ? We check that out in the video on the next page.

Audio Loudness test
The Google Nest Audio is tested followed by the Google Home on the same audio track played by casting it from youtube playing on the handphone.
The audio is checked for it’s loudness in terms of decibels when it plays at 50%, 75% and 100% volume level.

With the Google Nest Audio, the loudness reaches almost 80 decibels while the Google Home is around 70 odd decibels.
In terms of the audio, the Nest Audio has the Bass Boost and it doesn’t “crack” when you turned it up to max level. The Google Home tends to be softer and has an emphasis on the treble.
[nextpage title=”Conclusion”]
Google Nest Audio is a simple to setup audio device that fits either in your living room. Powered with a faster processor, it also respond faster than the Google Home when we use Google Assistant.
The nice thing about it is that it can be controlled all within Google home app, allowing audio casting to all devices. Unfortunately, you can pair with other Google home audio device for stereo pairing.
Hidden audio controls of the Google Nest Audio
It is a pity that the Google Nest uses a proprietary AC power adaptor which looks simila to the one of the Nest WiFI point. It would be much better if Google used a USB C connector which can be shared with other Android phones. Secondly, the device is dependant on WIFI. I really hope one day with IoT, each device can operate with it’s SIM and IP address and probably powred by battery. In that case, you would be able to use it as a mobile audio device without needing to configure it to connect to WIFI.
If you like Bass, the Google Nest Audio is a good speaker you wouldnt want to miss for S$139.
