The Singapore MVNO market is really flooded with lots of SIM ONLY plans. From the initial 3 MNO and 1 MVNO back in the days before TPG enters the market, we now have 4 MNO and 11 MVNO+sub brands.

ViViFi is not a new MVNO, it was launched it’s family centric plan VIVIFI.Share some months ago. It allows the main line’s data to be shared with supplementary lines. The idea is good but the entry price of S$29.90/mth might be a bit steep for a SIM only plan these days.

ViViFi might have noticed that highly priced plans might not appeal to the mass market who are looking for cheap alternatives. In end of Oct 2019, ViViFi took the market by surprise by launching the ViViFi.lite plan.

It is being priced at S$8.80/mth and it comes with 500 mins of call minutes, free incoming calls, free caller ID.

500 mins, 3 GB data and 20 SMS
Free Incoming calls and SMS

There will be a delivery charge of S$12 if you sign up online. Look out for their booth at MRT stations (announced on their Facebook page) and get the save on the S$12 – free SIM and activation on the spot.

Top Up $3.21 for another 1 GB, 100 mins and 100 SMS

You can get a new line or port in your existing number.

On the next page, we take a look at some app and test results.

We visited one of the booth and registered a new line at the counter. The process was smooth. The registration is done with 5 to 10 minutes and the SIM is inserted into my Pixel phone to do some tests.

ViViFi.lite runs on the Singtel network. So, if your current location has good coverage by Singtel, you will get almost the same network signal / speed.

We tested it at Newton MRT station and got the results of 177 Mbps. The Signal strength is LTE+ at -73 dB which is very strong (5 bars/5 bars). OpenSignal also show a similar speed at around 170 Mbps.

ViViFi does not provide an app for Android or iOS. Instead, you can login to the online portal at it’s website. The page will be resized automatically to fit the small screen.

After running the tests, the data used is immediately reflected. We still have around 1.62 GB left (out of 3 GB) after running a couple of speedtests. There are 499 minutes and 20 SMS left.

[nextpage title=”Conclusion”]

ViViFi.lite is a pretty low cost SIM only plan for the less data hungry users. It’s 500 minutes of talktime and free incoming/free caller ID is welcoming as it fits the general profile of the aging population and young children who just need a basic line with 3 GB of data with lots of call minutes.

If data runs out, you won’t be able to use the data or call out anymore. This is good as you won’t be charged like 1 GB for S$10. Simply top Up $3.21 for another 1 GB, 100 mins and 100 SMS which is quite reasonably priced.

Being a cheap plan does not mean you are void of overseas usage. VIVIFI Go (roaming pack) and VIVIFI Go (Roaming Voice and SMS) are available for online activation.

The data roam plans are pretty decent. S$5 for 1 GB (1 week) for Malaysia / Thailand.

Australia/Hongkong/Macau/Indonesia/Malaysia/Philippines/Taiwan/Thailand 10 days for S$20.

Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA, Vietnam for $35 / 30 days

China, Hong Kong, Macau 14 days at $15 for 2 GB

Currently, there are other under $10 plans,

  • Circles.LIfe $5 plan – 3 GB data, 50 mins talktime, 25 SMS
  • Zero 1 $9.90 – 1 GB data, 200 min talktime, 200 SMS
  • RedONE Amazing8 $8.00 – 3 GB data, 100 mins talktime, 10 SMS
  • Vivobee BEE LITE $5 – 1 GB data, 50 minutes of call minutes, 50 SMS

Pricing do not include delivery, activation charges.

Which one would you pick ?

In Conclusion, the ViViFi.Lite plan is a good offer not to be missed. You can choose a new number or port in your existing no contract number.
