Computex Taipei 2014 Manufacturers might not showcase Intel X99 chipset motherboards

You have probably read about the upcoming Intel X99 chipset which features DDR4 support. As scheduled, the chipset, processor and supporting motherboards should be available in the period of August 2014.

Accordingly to various manufacturers we spoke to, their main focus of this show is still on the more mid range and gamers board based on the just released Intel Z97 chipset. In fact the Z97 chipset introduced some minor changes to the Z87 with add on features like SATA Express and M2.

Thus, we might not see even static display of the motherboard at the booths or VIP rooms.

Yes indeed. It is reaching saturation as competitors are all killed. When there is no competition, there is no innovation.

Like I said , nothing new IE: thunderbolt, sata express and m.2 is still just a format connection. Ive been running PCIe SSD cards at home for over 5 years and you can do a heck of allot with PCIe bandwidth. I thinks it pathetic thats all Intels got, very sad.

Get an old X58, plug a PCIe SSD card in , add a thunderbolt2 PCIe card, and another SATA 6 and USB3 card ( 40 + PCIe lanes remember) and your sate of the art with a 5 year old machine. Yes the processor is only half the speed of today ( unless you clock it) but in the old days it would have been one tenth the speed and you could never catch up.

The progress curve has slowed tremendously over the last 5 years and its only going to get worse. At this rate my new X99 home computer may last 25 years. At least this lack of progress will save me from getting a new computer every 3 years like I used to have to do.

if this is true then its just another intel mistake. They havent done anything in years, Z97 is a joke, x99 is already a joke andyears late, christ an x58 i7 is almost still current via PCIe. INTEL IS PATHETIC. everyone bitchs how slow PC sales are when its only themselves to blame.
    MORONS.

PC sales have been declining as it has been overtaken by mobile devices such as tablets and soon those 6″ phablets. There aren’t major breakthroughs except Thunderbolt, SATA Express, M.2 which are really not very relevant as peripherals are expensive and not readily available in many parts of the world.
